After graduating OHS I entered McGill, went on to MacDonald and then earned a Concordia BA majoring in psychology. I also received a graduate certificate in special education and completed the graduate program in family life education, both at McGill.

I initially worked as an elementary school teacher. Later, as a single mother, I was fortunate in having a productive and fulfilling career. I served for 27 years as head teacher at Victoria High School, a facility within the adolescent psychiatric ward at the Allen Memorial Hospital. Coordinating the education and treatment of these kids was both challenging and rewarding.      

In 1960 I married Harvey Blatt and had three terrific children, Danny, Lisa and Jamie. I am presently married to my soul mate Harry Schwartz. We are so very proud of our eleven grandchildren including the two from Harry’s son.

I retired to Boca Raton in 2002 where my husband Harry is a university professor. A year later I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I feel fortunate, as a three year pro-active survivor to be cancer free and to have beaten the odds. Every day of my life is lived with gratitude, peace and joy.
