I married Valerie when I was 28.  We have 3 sons, ages 31 - 37 and 2 grandchildren.  I graduated with a M.D. from McGill Univ. in 1965, did internship and medical residency training at Royal Victoria Hospital, followed by a research fellowship in endocrinology at McGill.

From 1972 - 76, I was a Centennial Fellow of the Canadian Medical Research Council at the Univ. of geneva in Switzerland ( and skied the Alps! ).  From 1977 - 88, I was Assoc., then Prof. of Medicine at the Univ. of Miami, School of Medicine ( fun in the sun ), before returning North to Edmonton where I have been Prof. of Medicine and Director of the Diabetes Research and Training Centre at the University of Alberta.  In 2007, I was elected to Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada, Academy of Medical Sciences.

I look forward to seeing the 2007 edition of the Outrremont High “Outlook”.

All best wishes,

Alex
