The Montreal Fifties, Anti-Semitism, and Herbert Jordan
I left Montreal in 1961, studied philosophy at Oxford University for two years, then
taught philosophy at the University of London (University College London) for twenty-
two years, and in 1985 returned to Oxford as Chichele Professor of Social and
Political Theory and Fellow of All Souls. I have written four books:
Karl Marx's Theory of History: A Defence, 1978, 2d ed. 2000
History, Labour, and Freedom, 1988
Self-Ownership, Freedom, and Equality, 1995
If You're an Egalitarian, How Come You're So Rich, 2000
And I'm now working on a book that should appear in 2007, called
Rescuing Justice and Equality.
I married Margaret (Maggie) Pearce, an English woman, in 1965. We had three kids,
and we split in 1991. There are seven grand-children, three in Addis Ababa, three in
London, and one, nineteen years old, who bobs back and forth between the two.
Since 1991, I have lived with Michele Perrenoud, a French Swiss, and we married in
1999.

JUST READ YOUR PERSONAL NOTE... BOY, IN JUST A FEW WORDS WE CAN POINT TO A WHOLE LOT. KIND OF AMAZING.
Having been kept busy in psychology for these past years I did not see any references to your books (never mind you and yours). sometimes philosophy and psychology do no meet. I love the titles of your las 3 books and will look for them.
I think I noticed you will once again be our MC. Sounds very good.

Good for you - I wonder whether you remember me - Yigal - we once participated somewher as a debating team - you were of course far superior as a debater - for the life of me I can’t remember what the subfect of the debaate was. I have another memory of you (if it interests you at all) - but I don’t want to put it on a blog - send me your email to yigal@bgumail.bngu.ac.il if you so desire.
By the way, just out of curiosity - have you ever heard of gad and asher Horowitz - Both Professors of Political Theory - gad at toronto and asher at York (in Toronto)
