1964 – 1968: Palo Alto, California. I worked happily for 4 years for the Stanford University, Department of Psychiatry, as a clinical research assistant. I fell in love with psychiatry so I did a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Toronto. I worked in psychiatry at University of Toronto Hospitals, The Toronto General Hospital and The Toronto Western Hospital for 4 decades. Some of the groups I facilitated were (1) Genetic Termination (2) Incest Survivor (3) Bereavement (4) Women aged sixty plus with depression (5) psychotherapy. Before I turned 66, I was forced to retire because of mandatory retirement. I have a private practice doing therapy for groups and individuals.
1979 – 1980: Jerusalem, Israel. Incredible year. My 3 sons were in grades 1,5, 7. I taught fitness classes and worked as a Social Worker in The Student Counseling Service at Hebrew University.
1974 – 1996: In addition to working in psychiatry and rearing my sons, I gave fitness classes in several institutions including the JCC in Toronto and the YWCA and Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel.
My 3 sons are married. My sons’ and their wives’ professions – 1 social worker, 2 lawyers, 3 doctors. Three healthy and delightful grandchildren. I love and live the ‘bubby’ cliché – when the babies cry, I hand them back to their parents.
My husband Paul Sandor is an academic neuropsychiatrist. His areas of expertise are Tourette Syndrome, OCD and ADHD. Bring your children and grandchildren to the reunion; Paul will cure them. Just kidding.
I do love this stage of life.
I am very eager to see “old” friends. I am grateful to our planning committee in Montreal for creating this exciting reunion.
